Beat's passion for the underwater world started early in his life. Inspired by world known underwater explorers Hans Hass and Jacques Yves Cousteau, Beat started taking underwater images at the age thirteen when he built his own waterproof housing.
In 1972 he certified as an Open Water Scuba Diver in Switzerland and was diving for another six years in Switzerland and Italy.
In 1984 he became a freelance Graphic Designer and worked in Switzerland until he and his wife Jacqueline Korner immigrated to Canada in 1994.
A different life filled their years together in Canada's Yukon Territory where they both built and operated a wilderness resort and a kennel full of huskies.
In 1991 Beat participated in the World's Toughest Sled Dog Race - the 1000 Miles Yukon Quest - through the harsh wilderness between Whitehorse YT and Fairbanks, Alaska.
Today he films in the South & Eastern Pacific, Atlantic and in the Caribbean using both an underwater DSLR-set and a HD AMPHIBICO Sony video-set.
